Acknowledging all the positive impact of activism, there is a dark side to the coin.

Activism can be a form of conformity.

When deprived of continuous critical thinking and unbiased analysis, being an activist becomes a desired social label, one more tag to flaunt, or worse, another form of entitlement, dogmatism and radicality, leading to bullying, exclusion, hate speeches, violence... the very causes it should be defending.

Activism can be unorganized.

Like everything else in life, a battle requires strategic planning and governance, it needs clear monitored goals and resources. Guess what? It also needs marketing. The good type.

Activism can be aimless.

A battle starts and usually ends.

It ends when the time is right for the battle to achieve its optimal desired effect and goals and continue to do so with the least amount of collateral damages. A battle can end here and start somewhere else. It can end and start again at the same place. But, an endless battle is a failing counterproductive derailing battle.

Activism can be inactive.

As an activist, you are to suggest solutions and practical changes for the cause. You need to work on the skills and the means to make your case and gather more people on your journey. Defending a cause is not just yelling the cause, it is not necessarily anarchistic hysterical expression of the need to pay attention to the cause.

Activism can be biased

Activism can be disproportionate

Activism can harm a case more than support it...

We need to be fixing activism, not the activist's way.
